Pam joined Risius Family Veterinary Service in August 2009, bringing with her 38+ years of service as a Certified Veterinary Technician and 30 years as a professional groomer. Pam graduated from Bettendorf High School and the Medical Institute of Minnesota with a certificate as a Veterinary Technician (at that time Iowa did not have any college that offered a Vet Tech program).
Pam enjoys assisting in surgery, helping clients with behavioral issues, radiology, and dog training/grooming. When Pam is not at work you can find her riding motorcycles, cooking or baking, horseback riding, swimming, hiking or spending time with her grandchildren. Pam has 3 sons, 4 grandchildren, Drake, Dane, Logan, and Lincoln James, and a cat named Pebbles.
Carrie joined Risius Family Veterinary Service in July 2010 after working in the veterinary field for more than 12 years. Carrie began her veterinary career as a receptionist but she quickly decided she wanted to become a veterinary assistant.
Carrie’s fur family includes a golden retriever mix named Reese, a Yorkie named Lily, and cats Tunsis, Tweety, and Spooky. Recently Carrie has become a Feline Advocate for the clinic and is working towards her Basic Animal Rescue Training (BART) certification.
In her spare time Carrie enjoys wood working, antiquing, watching her daughter race BMX bikes and attending stock car races with her husband.
Amanda joined Risius Family Veterinary Service as an intern while she was completing her degree in Veterinary Technology at Muscatine Community College. In April 2012 Amanda joined the staff full time.
You can usually find Amanda walking or hiking with her three dogs, Freckles the dalmatian, Sarabi the blood hound, and Nala the chiweenie. Amanda also enjoys her feline companions and especially fostering kittens for QC Paws.
At the clinic Amanda enjoys assisting in surgery, dental cleanings, radiography, and she is a Feline Advocate.
In Kelly’s spare time she enjoys spending time outside with her dairy cows, boxers Brownie and Misty, and cat Cocoa. Kelly also enjoys making candles.
At the clinic you will find Kelly in the exam rooms; she enjoys interacting with our clients and the variety of appointments we see on a daily basis.
Catlin is originally from Henderson, Iowa. She graduated from East Mills High school and went on to get her Bachelor of Science degree at Iowa State University in Animal Science. She then continued on to get her veterinary technician degree at DMACC.
At the clinic Catlin is a Feline Advocate, she enjoys doing work in the laboratory and assisting with surgery.
Catlin married her husband, Ethan, in October 2015. In her free time she is an avid Cyclone fan and enjoys visiting her sister in Ames.
John started working with Dr. Dale in 1983, he then left for 9 years to be a sales rep for a veterinary drug company, and then returned to Risius Family Veterinary Service in 2000.
At the clinic John is the right hand man to the large animal doctors, going on farm calls and assisting with cattle at the clinic.
John spends as much time as possible with his dog Sassy, he also spends his free time taking care of his horses.
